The Winners of the 3rd annual
Children’s Benefit Talent Show
On July 30, 2005 twenty-six contestants ranging from ages 7-17 competed in
The 3rd annual Children’s Benefit Talent Show at Middle Tennessee State University’s
Tucker Theater. Lynnette Cole, Miss USA 2000 was the mistress of ceremonies. The winners and participants of The Children’s Benefit Talent Show will be at the Stones River Mall in Murfreesboro, TN on August 13 at 2:00 pm during Parent Magazine’s Back to School Bash.
The following children received a trophy and a monetary gift for there outstanding performance.
Instrumental Category:
1st place: Yedarm Kim, classical piano “Silvery Waves”
2nd place: Sarah Smith, classical piano “Sonatina”
Music Category Ages 7-12:
1st place: Holly Cormier, “Georgia”
2nd place: Kaylie Hackett, “There’s No Business Like Show Business”
3rd place: Sarah Upchurch, “Letters from War”
Music Category Ages 13-17:
1st place: Wesley Stiles, “Natural Woman”
2nd place: David Brown, “In the Still of the Night”
3rd place: Shelby Howell, “ There Are Worst Things I Could Do”
Dance Category:
1st place: Anthony Gilbert, “One, Two Step” Hip Hop Style
2nd place: Amber Hagen, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” Baton Twirling
3rd place: Jami Averwater, “One” Modern Jazz
Drama Category:
1st place: Chante McCorksey and Marcus Rhodes: “I Just Have to Say Thank You” Mimes
2nd place: Cailie Chavez, Selected reading of Children’s poetry
3rd place: Brooke Perry, Holly Wakefield, and Emilie Schaefer
“A Day in Sisterhood” A skit written and performed by the trio
Art Category:
1st place: Victoria Koglin painting: “Little House in the Woods”
2nd place: Alexandra Koglin painting: “Jazz Piece”
Runner ups received a gift certificate card from Wal-mart. Runner Ups: Candice Rucker, Randall Cody Ward, Ashton Turney, Rebecca Haley, Reshad McCord, Aviona Carrigan, and Katherine Polsinelli. Our proud sponsors included
